In these elaborate illustrations, the progressive technology and pioneering innovation for which Porsche automobiles are renowned are literally transparent - an extraordinary visual experience. The story of these graphic illustrations also reflects the exciting technical developments in this field. Today electronic data processing has conquered almost all areas of everyday life. But in 1975 technical illustrations were still made by working from photographs, using brushes and paint applied by hand. This work documents the development of the graphic rendering of these elaborate illustrations over the years since 1975, from the traditional approach of brushes and paint to digital conversion using Quantel Paintbox, and then the entrance into the world of 3-D with Silicon Graphics work stations. | ||
