520 _aOn holiday on the Greek island of Rhodes for a family wedding writer Della Galton found herself drawn to a stray dog living rough among the rocks on the beach. A closer investigation revealed the animal was scavenging from the holidaymakers to feed her 13 puppies. With the resort about to close for winter, dog lover Della knew she couldn't leave the canine family to starve. And despite threats of divorce from her husband, she enlisted the help of a local animal rescue charity to save them. She and holidaymakers of all nationalities formed a human chain to carry the puppies to safety. Back home in England, Della thought her job was done. But she made the fatal mistake of contacting Rhodes Animal Welfare for an update only to find out that the puppies had been rehomed but Lindy was on death row. With three little words I'll have herA , Della began the task of bringing Lindy back to England to live with her other three dogs. Over the next eight years Lindy proved to be a true survivor, overcoming many life-threatening events, including being swept down the river, falling out of a car traveling at speed, being chased by a stampeding herd of angry cows and surviving a rare form of cancer. The Dog With Nine Lives will tug at the emotions of dog lovers everywhere.
